The twentieth Estonian Glass Artists’ Union’s annual exhibition explores the colour – RED
auburn red, bay red, barn red, baby pink, blood red, burgundy red, burnt sienna, bright red, cardinal red, carmine, carnation, carroty red, cerise, cherry red, chestnut red, chili red, cinnabar, claret, coppery red, coral red, crimson red, cyclamen, damask, dark red, dubonnet, flame, flesh red, foxy, fuchsia, ginger, grenadine, henna, Indian red, imperial red, lust, liver, magenta, maroon, mulberry, old rose, oxblood, oyster pink, peach, peach-blow, pink, plum, poppy, puce, raspberry red, rose, roseate, rosy, ruby red, russet, rusty red, salmon pink, sandy, scarlet, shell pink, strawberry red, tea rose, terracotta, Titian, Turkey red, vermell, vermilion, wine red...
The colour red, which offers a variety of possible scenarios, different shades of meaning and metaphors, has been interpreted freely by the artists. What binds artists’ works together is the complex character of this intense colour – its ability to grab, bind and store.
At this year’s annual exhibition ¨ Colour – red¨ 17 Estonian glass artists’ interpretations of red in glass are presented, carefully selected by a 3-member jury consisting of ceramicist and associate professor Ingrid Allik, jewellery artist and gallerist Maria Valdma and artist, lecturer Urmas Lüüs.
